Wells Science & Social Studies Fair
Wells Middle School presented an all-school Science and Social Studies Fair on January 27. Posters, projects, models, and demonstrations filled the halls of Wells as students viewed the work of their classmates.
Patriot's Pen Essay Winners
Wells Middle School students Stephanie St. George, Elizabeth Lamica and Angela Meunier are the 2009 winners of the VFW Post 6055's annual Patriot's Pen essay contest. Also pictured is Advisor Ellie Peoples, Commander Ed Skonieczny and Wells Principal Jason Defalco.
Famly Math Night
Charlton Street School held its annual Family Math Night on Wednesday, December 2. Friends and family members joined the students and staff of CSS for a fun filled evening exploring math!
Girls Math Day at WPI
On Saturday, November 21st, 20 students from Southbridge High School and Wells Middle School attended the Sonja Kovalevsky Mathematics Day, a one day program, free of charge, of workshops, talks, and problem-solving competitions for middle school and high school girls and their teachers.
Students Visit Museum of Science
On November 17, members of the Southbridge High freshmen class toured the Museum of Science in Boston. They visited the Harry Potter exhibit which had the actual costumes and props used by the actors; some students tried their hand at Quidditch! They also saw the Lightning Show and enjoyed other hands-on exhibits.
Honoring our Veterans
Charlton Street School held their annual Honoring our Veterans program on Tuesday, November 10. This program honors all veterans who have served their country in the armed forces. Students gave outstanding performances in this touching tribute. Enjoy the Veteran's Day Slideshow.
Well Chorus Performance
Wells Middle School Chorus students performed at the Worcester Sharks hockey game on November 6th.
Wells PeaceBuilders visit Salem
Over twenty students from Wells Middle School participated in the first quarter PeaceBuilder trip to Salem, Massachusetts on October 28th. Students enjoyed a visit to the Salem Wax Museum, Frankenstein's Laboratory and scenic downtown Salem.
Rotary Club Recognizes Students at Luncheon
Five Southbridge High School students were invited by the Rotary Club on October 21 for lunch and to speak about their experiences at the Rotary Youth Leadership Conference they attended during the summer. Students chosen by the Rotarians for this great opportunity were Sandra Cartagena, Dayna Larson, Lauryn Larson, Eric Lincoln and Caroline Macharia. A Night with the Beatles
The Southbridge High School Choirs hosted a Night with the Beatles on Thursday, October 8 in the SHS auditorium. Kevin Williams, music teacher at Wells Middle School, was a featured performer.
SHS Students Attend College Fair
Several SHS students, along with members of the Guidance Department, attended a College Fair held on September 23 at Worcester State College. The students had the opportunity to speak with over thirty college reps, garnish information about financial aid, taste Latino cuisine, and win prizes donated by the various colleges.
V.F.W. Dictionary Presentation
Charlton Street School held their annual V.F.W. Dictionary Presentation to third grade students on Wednesday, September 30. The dictionaries were donated by the V.F.W. and the Worcester County Memorial Park. Classroom teachers presented the dictionaries to their students during this greatly appreciated assembly. At left is V.F.W. Commander Ed,  guest speaker.
Constitution Day Events in Boston
On September 17th,Constitutional Day, seven Southbridge High students were chosen to take part in the annual James Otis Lecture in Boston hosted by the Massachusetts Trial Lawyers Association at Faneuil Hall. Their trip also included a visit to the USS Constitution, the oldest serving vessel in the Navy.

Wells Students Honor Local Heroes
Wells Middle School students participated in an all-school assembly on September 11 to honor local public service personnel and community veterans and volunteers. Representatives of the police department, fire and EMS department, the hospital and medical community, St. Vincent de Paul Society's local food pantry, the local veterans' organizations and the United Way were honored for their continued work and dedication to all the citizens of Southbridge. The assembly was highlighted with the rafflling of bicycles to students who brought in canned donations to the food pantry.
FREE Concert Saturday, August 29
Southbridge High School was the site of a free music concert and art exhibition on Saturday, August 29.
Public Forum on School Building Project
The Southbridge School Building Committee, Town Council, and School Committe held an informational meeting on the Southbridge Middle School and High School Building Project on June 22 in the Town Hall Council Chambers.
20th Annual Hot Dog Cookout at CSS
Charlton Street School had their 20th annual Hot Dog Cookout for students on Tuesday, June 16. This annual event was provided by the Knights of Columbus.
Students were served hot dogs, chips, a beverage, and an ice cream sandwich!
Flag Day at CSS-A Tribute to Our Country
Charlton Street School held its annual Flag Day celebration on Friday, June 12. This annual event is in recognition of Veteran's, Memorial, and Flag Days. Students celebrated by singing various patriotic songs.
Red Sox Reading at Charlton Street School
Wally, the Green Monster, the official mascot of the Boston Red Sox, visited Charlton Street School on Tuesday, June 9, to promote the Red Sox summer reading program and as a reward for the Reading Incentive Program at the school. The children have read 5000 books since March.
Spelling Bee at West Street School
West Street School had a spelling bee on Monday, June 8. Fourth and fifth graders participated in spelling some very difficult words. Pictured here are the first place winners, 4th grader, Jorge and 5th grader, Edwin. Congratulations!
Reach Out and Read Day
The Southbridge Elementary PTA held their annual Reach Out and Read Day on Friday, June 5 at the three elementary schools. The readers were community members as well as National Honor Society and Student Council students from Southbridge High School. The Southbridge Elementary PTA provided and donated each book selection to the classroom. There were over sixty readers this year! Pictured here is Superintendent Dr. Dale M. Hanley reading to Mrs. Champney's second grade students.
WSS's Alice in Wonderland
The fantastic production of Alice in Wonderland Jr., presented by West Street School, was held June 4, 5 and June 6 in the Southbridge High School auditorium.
Career Day at Charlton Street School
Charlton Street School held its annual Career Day on May 29. Guest career speakers from various agencies and businesses throughout the Southbridge district spent their time in the classrooms with students discussing their education and experiences involving their careers. CSS thanks all the guest speakers for their time and knowledge.
West Street School's Family Literacy Night
West Street School held their Family Literacy Night on Thursday, May 7. The theme for the evening was "Hats off to Reading". Families enjoyed many varied activities such as creating reading books, bookbags, and bookmarks. Many visitors enjoyed hearing stories and attending the Scholastic Book Fair.
Charlton Street School Math Night
The annual Charlton Street School Math Night took place on Wednesday, April 29. Parents received lessons from their children on how to play various math games. Families enjoyed the wide assortment of activities provided. This event was sponsored by Title 1. Visit the Charlton Street School website to see a slideshow on this outstanding event!
Family Math Night at Eastford Road School
Eastford Road School had their Family Math Night on Wednesday, May 6. Families participated in many different math activities provided by the teachers at Eastford Road School.
